Kahlia & Mark’s Rainy Day Celebration at The Farm, Yarra Valley
An intimate, heart-filled wedding with a family-first approach

Some weddings just stay with you. For me, Kahlia and Mark’s day at The Farm in the Yarra Valley was one of those weddings  full of love, laughter, and a sense of calm joy that flowed through every moment.

As a Yarra Valley wedding photographer, I’ve seen all kinds of weather roll through, but this day started with a particularly steady downpour. Rain on your wedding day is said to bring good luck, and if that’s true, these two are set for a lifetime of it. They embraced the elements beautifully. One of my favourite moments was capturing the two of them huddled under an umbrella in the soft light, completely unfazed by the rain  just present, in love, and soaking in the moment (literally and figuratively).

A Relaxed Start Focused on Family

Kahlia and Mark chose to skip the traditional ‘getting ready’ photos, which I absolutely loved. Instead, they met at the venue for some quiet time together as a family before the ceremony. Their young son was with them for it all, which made the day feel incredibly grounded and full of purpose. It wasn’t just about two people getting married. It was about celebrating a family unit, and every part of the day reflected that.

Ceremony in the Countryside

Set against the rolling hills of the Yarra Valley, The Farm was the perfect location. Even with the misty air and damp earth, there was something magic about the landscape that added to the intimacy of the ceremony. The sounds of the rain, the quiet hush of the crowd, and the emotion between Kahlia and Mark created a truly special energy.

A Night of Joy in the Barn

The reception took place inside the warm, rustic barn a complete contrast to the drizzly start. Fairy lights, candles, and live music filled the space with warmth and celebration. Kahlia and Mark’s first dance was joyful and unfiltered, just like the rest of their day. Guests gathered close, drinks in hand, cheering them on as the night unfolded with speeches, laughter, and lots of dancing.

Why This Day Stood Out

For me, this wedding wasn’t about grand gestures or perfectly curated details. It was about real connection. It was about the way Mark looked at Kahlia under that umbrella, the way their son clung to them both during the portraits, the comfort in their glances, and the quiet confidence they shared. It reminded me why I do what I do to tell stories that are full of heart.
